Great Things Happening at the Bridge!

Great things have been happening at the bridge over the course of the last few weeks, and I am so excited to share them with you!

friends in the right places

When the Bridge washed away, we had no idea what we were going to do. Construction is crazy right now in our area, and trying to find a quality qualified contractor is a scary and daunting ordeal. You hear so many stories of people getting ripped off, unscrupulous builders cutting corners on materials and workmanship, etc. We don’t know the first thing about concrete, and you really never quite sure who to trust. As it turns out, best friends of ours since high school have a concrete company (we knew that), but what we didn’t know was that they are second generation bridge builders! when they were visiting from Virginia over Christmas, they offered their services. Our friend’s dad (and her husband’s father-in-law) built bridges all up and down the east coast for both private and public contracts. We had no idea, but when you’re a 15-year-old, 16-year-old, 17-year-old kid, you really don’t care, either. They moved away not long after graduation, and we lost touch for years. By the time we reconnected about 14 years ago, her dad was still doing Bridges and that kind of construction, but they were more into residential and commercial foundations, etc. but at the end of February they, along with her dad, came for a three week visit and some beautiful concrete work.

a flurry of activity at the Bridge

Friends and Family had quite a system going. Our children, Zach and Abi, along with our friends Carol and Cody made quick work of the first two sections of wall.
