we finally fished the bridge out of the river, and properly disposed of all of the scrap. We were able to save quite a few of the floorboards, to be used at a later date for other projects.
we are currently on the hunt for an engineer who can tell us how many and what size steel beams we need so that we can get the materials ordered and start construction on the new bridge.The plan is to move it down river just a little bit to where the ledge drops off, which will leave more clearance underneath it on the off chance we ever get another storm like that.
we will have to move the road bed a little bit, and take out a couple of large trees, but the end result will be a larger, sturdier bridge with more lawn space.
