If you only get 10 questions to ask at your wedding venue tour, these are the big ones! When choosing a venue and planning your big day, you need all of the information you can get from all of your vendors, but most especially from your venue! We’ve put together a list of what we feel are the most important 10 questions to ask during your wedding venue tour.
- Is my preferred date available? (if your date is flexible, what are some dates that are close to the original?) Venues book up sometimes years in advance! It’s a great idea to have several dates in mind just in case your perfect date doesn’t work with your perfect venue.
- What are your packages, and what do they cost?
- Will your maximum capacity hold my party?
- Do you require a planner/day of coordinator? And if so, is he or she included in the package price?
- Do you require us to use in-house vendors, or can we hire our own? (if we can hire our own, do you have a list of recommended vendors we can interview?)
- Do you have accommodations on site, or an arrangement with a local hotel? (For more rural venues, also ask if there is a local shuttle service that can run from the hotel to the venue)
- How early can we arrive, and how late can we stay? (also ask if there will be time the night before for a rehearsal/decorating)
- Do we need to find our own bartenders, or do you have bartenders on retainer? (many venues require alcohol be served by a licensed bartender regardless of whether the alcohol is DIY)
- Is there an extra charge for ceremony space?
- Who will handle the set up/breakdown of the tables and chairs, ceremony spaces, decorations, etc.?
of course, you will probably have so many more questions tailored to your specific needs for your big day, but hopefully this will give you a place to start!
